Gem Install Logstash -v 1.1.0 is not valid

Description

Hi everyone,

this is the result of just executing the following command,

jon1984@ubuntu:~$ gem install logstash -v 1.1.0
ERROR: Could not find a valid gem 'logstash' (= 1.1.0) in any repository
ERROR: Possible alternatives: logstats, mostash, logeasy, logtail, stash

So the repo isn't there. Is there any reason why?

Thanks so much for your help!

Regards,
Jonathan

Yup I understand. Thanks for your answer. I still found the instructions at: http://logstash.net/docs/1.1.0/learn

So I am curious on how to run logstash without using the monolithic jar or is this the only way to implement logstash?

You are totally welcome to continue using the 'gem' method, but we will not be publishing any gem releases. Here's how you can build the gem:

  • git clone git@github.com:logstash/logstash.git

  • cd logstash

  • git checkout v1.1.0

  • make gem

This wil result in a logstash-1.1.0.gem in the directory you can use.

(again, though, if you wish to build your own gems and can't get it working, please let us know!)
